Reduction at Source:
Reduction at source is to use the four-stage of solids control equipment (shale shaker, desander, desilter and decanter centrifuge) for the drilling fluids according to drilling site conditions. Maximize to improve the efficiency of solids control equipment, to avoid drilling mud overflow caused by equipment failure or improper operation. So that to maximum recover the drilling mud, improve its cyclic utilization rate and reduce the volume of drilling mud on cuttings. The drilling waste can be actually reduced at source to minimize waste discharge.

Recycle and reuse:
Water is the most important resource at drilling site, and it is most likely to cause pollution especially at oil and gas drilling field. Generally, oil and gas is distributed in areas where water is scarce; therefore, water resources are very precious and rational utilization of water resources is necessary. Large quantity of waste water will be produced at the drilling site, and the water-based drilling fluid also contains plenty of water. Such waste water can be treated by using some advanced technologies such as dehydration and water treatment, etc. After fully treated by high-speed centrifuge, waste water filter system and purification system and met the recycling requirements, the water resources can be put into drilling operation for recycle and reuse.

Plenty of drilling mud adhesion on the surface of cuttings is removed during the treatment process of solids control equipment, which will significantly increase the drilling cost. Hi-G dryer can reduce the OOC down to about 10%. And the vertical centrifuge can minimize the OOC to below 5% through centrifugal filtration with slow rotating speed. Therefore, Hi-G dryer or vertical centrifuge can be used to effectively recover drilling mud, reduce drilling cost and minimize drilling waste volume.

The discharge standard still cannot be met after a series of recycle, reuse and recovery. We can adopt solidification, thermal desorption, cuttings re-injection and other treatment technologies at the final stage of drilling waste management to ultimately achieve zero discharge.

Vertical Cuttings Dryer( Vertical Centrifuge)
VC-1000 series Vertical Cuttings Dryer( Vertical Centrifuge) produced by KOSUN is a type of vertical centrifuge, which can perform solid/liquid separation through centrifugal separation. The vertical cuttings dryer can effectively recover the liquid phase in drilling cuttings, making the solid phase become very dry. It is suitable for water-base mud, oil-base mud and synthetic base mud. By recovering the mud in drilling cuttings, the vertical cuttings dryercan reduce the drilling cost and cut down environmental pollution. With handling capacity of 40-60 T/h, the oil on cuttings (OOC) of drilling cuttings can be reduced to lower than 5% (w/w) after treatment, meeting the international emissions standards and environmental protection requirements. The vertical centrifuge can also be applicable for drilling waste management in onshore and offshore drilling.

KOSUN linear motion Hi-G Dryer is used to recover the water-base and oil-base mud from drilling cuttings, in order to reduce the liquid/oil content on drilling cuttings down to 10% (w/w). It can not only recover the drilling mud to reduce drilling cost, but also minimize the drilling waste volume to reduce environmental pollution.
D Series Decanter Centrifuge:
D Series Decanter Centrifuge is used in separating suspension of solids phase with particle ≥2μm in diameter for drilling mud and fluids handling. It is especially effective when used in oilfield service industry, industrial service industry and especially in environmentally sensitive areas. This type of centrifuge is high in recovery rate, effective in solids control and remarkable in the reduction of cost spent on drilling mud resupplying and management. It is a very sophisticated dynamic balancing machine, able to operate stably with the whirling speed ranging from 0 to 3900 and generate centrifugal force of 3000G.
Screw Conveyor:
KOSUN screw conveyor (Auger) can be used in drilling waste management projects, providing an effective and low-cost drilling cuttings transport system for offshore and onshore drilling rigs. Adopting a multi-sectional composite structure with each section of 12 feet (3.66m), the screw conveyor can be flexibly assembled on different drilling sites, with characteristics of simple operation, stable structure, strong adaptability and high safety, significantly improving the operating efficiency of equipment and reducing the cost and resources. The flights of screw conveyor adopt wear-resistant material to ensure its service life.
